On April 29th, Consul General Kong Xianhua attended the India Calling 2023 Conference themed Rising India-Inviting Partnership for Growth held by IMC and deliver a remark. Mr. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West) of MEA and Mr. Anant Singhania, President of IMC gave speeches. Hundreds of guests from business, government and the Consular Corps were present.

Consul General Kong spoke about the prospect of Indian growth and potential of China-India cooperation with “three beliefs”. Kong said, Indian economic growth enjoys strong momentum powered by four major engines. India’s digitization are developing fast as India Stack are being built into a universal digital platform for the whole Indian economy and society. Indian start-ups are springing up and showing the vitality and vigor of Indian market. Indian infrastructure construction is in full swing, laying a foundation for future growth. And Indian population has topped the world with its demographic dividend as the infinite energy for India’s development.

The first belief is that China and India enjoy great cooperation potential in the key sectors. Chinese digitization and infrastructure construction are leading the world. The Digital China Development Plan is promoting the integration of digital economy and advancing the Five-Sphere Integrated Plan. Chinese infrastructure construction is famous for advanced technology and rich experience. China has completed many key infrastructure projects at home and abroad, which has helped the economic growth worldwide. If China and India cooperate with each other in the key sectors, the benefits will come to both of us.

The second belief is that China and India are complementary in manufacturing industry. Chinese manufacturing industry has the advantage of the whole spectrum of production while Indian manufacturing industry is growing rapidly. As the global industrial line is experiencing changes, the changes should be“spillover from China scenario” rather than “shift away from China scenario”. China plus India will build a closely cooperative and highly complementary relationship in manufacturing. That will make both of us the world’s manufacturing centre.

The third belief is that China dream and India dream are interwoven. In 2022, the 20th National Congress of CPC was successfully held. The central task of CPC will be to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in a concerted effort to realize the Second Centenary Goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization. India also celebrated its 75th Independence Day in 2022. PM Modi put forward the vision of building India into a developed country by 2047 and embarking on the journey of Amrit Kaal. China and India shares similar development tasks and the same goal of national rejuvenation. As long as China and India work hands in hands, we are sure to realize the dream of national rejuvenation.
