The Consulate General of P.R. China holds 2020 Bangalore New Year Reception

On January 19th, the Consulate General in Mumbai hosted the 2020 Bangalore New Year Reception. Chinese Ambassador to India H.E. Sun Weidong and his wife Dr. Bao Jiqing, Chinese Consul General in Mumbai Mr. Tang Guocai and his wife Ma Chunsun, and Ms. Nirupama Rao, former Indian Foreign Secretary and Former Indian Ambassador to China, Mr.P.G.R Sindhia, Honorary President of ICFA, Karnataka, as well as guests from political, business, academic, artistic circles, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises, and overseas Chinese, attended the event.

In his speech, Ambassador Sun Weidong extended new year greetings and best wishes to guests present, introduced achievements of the People's Republic of China in the past 70 years and new updates of China-India relations. He pointed out that 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India as well as bilateral year of cultural exchanges. We should follow the consensus reached by top leaders, see the development of the other as its own opportunity, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and inject new impetus into bilateral relations.


Consul General Tang Guocai welcomed guests from all walks of life to attend the reception and introduced the work done by Chinese Consulate in the past year, including people-to-people exchanges, economic and trade cooperation, as well as consular services. He said that southwest India is at the forefront of opening-up and development, the Chinese Consulate in Mumbai is ready to work with friends in Bangalore and Karnataka to write a new chapter in exchanges and cooperation between China and India.

Ms. Nirupama Rao and Mr. P.G.R Sindhia conveyed thr new year greetings from H.E. Mr. Deva Gowda, Former Prime Minister of India, and congratulated Chinese people for the Lunar New Year, and highly appreciated Chinese Embassy and Consulate in India for a great deal of work in promoting exchanges between India and China. They further welcome Chinese enterprises and business people to invest in Karnataka and expressed willingness to make due contributions to enhancing China-India friendship and sub national exchanges and cooperation.



During the reception, Chinese Lion Dance and Dragon Dance and other cultural programs were warmly welcomed by guests. The reception were marked with marvelous decorations and lighting, beautiful flowers and smiles, lovely songs and music, and delicious Chinese food. Ambassador Sun Weidong and Consul General Tang Guocai talked cordially with guests.
